This photograph uses an ISO of 1600, and was taken in auto mode.

I used part of a police barricade to make my "frame". The clear, dull sky & the white buildings set a nice scene for the photo to be taken. The focus that was captured on the frame stands out a lot, but the pole of the field goal takes away from the attention that should be attracted to the boy and girl. Also, they're both in a somewhat awkward position so the photograph makes less of a statement. ultimately, this is an ineffective photo.

This is an effective portrait photograph because as minor as it may seem, it captures the cup more than anything else in the shot as well as capturing the rule of thirds composition. The lighting shines in a portion of the right side of the photograph, which gives the cup an image of dividing the portions of light.
